Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Thorndon CEVC Primary School's website.

Our school motto is: Believe and Achieve, and this encompasses all that we do at the school. We are a Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School and are part of the Diocese of St. Edmundsbury.  This is been inspired by Jeremiah 29 v11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Everyone should believe in themselves and in each other to inspire confidence and curiosity about the world around them.  Such belief enables everyone to achieve and be successful in a wide range of aspects. These include, but are not limited to: academic, sporting, musical, dramatic, social, emotional, cultural and spiritual achievements.

We teach our children of God’s love for them and his compassion towards us. We encourage the children to demonstrate such compassion in their day-to-day lives.

We expect high standards of behaviour from the pupils; and the staff are determined to provide high quality teaching and learning opportunities. We base our teaching on our ‘Rainbow of Values’. This supports our behaviour management strategies and explicitly teaches the values we want our children to develop.

We are very proud of our village school, being housed in a beautiful old building in a quiet location, with attractive surroundings.  We very much see ourselves as an integral part of the local community and seek to maximise opportunities for community links.

We are a feeder school to Hartismere School and we work closely with our partner school, Worlingworth CEVC Primary School.

We are always willing to welcome visitors to our school, so please do come and visit! Please contact the School Administrator, Geraldine Tierney or Hannah Boughen, who will take your call or see you at Reception.

I hope you enjoy looking at our website and find everything you are looking for.
