Junior Road Safety 2017 - 2018

Our Junior Road Safety Officers this year are Amelia and Rosie in Year 6. The girls have lots of super ideas about road safety and have already sent out their first correspondence to families. Watch this space for further updates!

Our First Letter to Families!

20th October, 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Road Safety Priorities for 2017 – 2018

We are the new Year 6 Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO’s).  We are writing to you to ask what you consider to be the main issues with road safety in and around Thorndon. This will help us decide what we will work on this year. Here are a few ideas that we thought of:
• Use of mobile phones whilst driving
• Parking
• Leaving engines running
• Crossing the road
• Being seen in the dark
• Riding a bike safely
• Walking on country roads
Please could you respond by marking whichever points you see as priorities? Also, we have included a space below for any additional comments or ideas. Please return this letter with your comments to the school office.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We look forward to reading your replies.

Kind regards,

Amelia and Rosie
Junior Road Safety Officers
